I have read Moorhens are extremely loud when defending their territory - wonderful contrasting imagery here Frank.

it tells a story, I hope there's no blood :)

Moorhens here are playing an important role in a computergame. So in my German brain this scene gets a very special layer, Frank. Thank you for that!

Best wishes
Ralf

__Among the aqua-birds that collect at... or come and go from our pond and the bogs there about... I've never seen a Moorhen.
__I understand they do frequent the New England area, so I'll have to take an extra look this summer!
__Nifty haiku, Frank, and thanks for creating my interest! _m

I'll have to google moorhen. :)
However, I can associate it with the birds that come to my feeder. Spring is in the air, pairings off are beginning and territory and food sources seem fair game.

I don't know how you write these as often and effortlessly as you do. :)
Always a joy Frank!
