of white gulls fly
along the snowy road

thrusting through
the bank’s green shade
buddleia spikes

in a black sky...
one white cloud
charged with light

bank holiday monday...
the urban music of cars
and blackbird song

urban garden...
the sun turns a pink rose
a lighter shade

stillness then wind
slowly the trees
begin to whoosh

chill wind—this evening
sky and trees blaze
a golden colour

on a spider’s thread

between leafless trees
........the sudden patina
of a strutting crow

on each appearance
you fill a different space...
.........static crane fly

peters out—birds flapping
at my window

late evening—after rain
the leaves on the tarmac
now in puddles

thoughtful moment...
...deep in the river
sunlit clouds

bustling Thames...
a cormorant slides into
its muddy depths

is summer over?
suddenly a rainbow
over the town

in an instant
two bird shapes traverse
the sun-drenched wall

morning drizzle...
mare and foal standing
absolutely still

blue sky and sea…
into the distance
a rainbow of beach huts

Avocet and chicks follow
the shoreline’s shape—
blue-grey twilight
